Man Killed in Rogers County

CLAREMORE, Okla. (AP) — Authorities say a car has struck and killed a man who was trying to cross a highway in northeast Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Monday 63-year-old Thomas Winslow died at the scene of the accident about 9:24 p.m. in Rogers County.

Troopers say Winslow was on the south side of the highway when he was hit by a vehicle that was traveling west.

The driver and two passengers in the car weren't hurt.

Trucker Killed When Winds Flipped Semi

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A truck driver is killed as the result of winds from severe thunderstorms in northeast Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 70-year-old Jimmy King of Ash Grove, Missouri was driving on the Will Rogers Turnpike near Afton Friday when straight-line winds flipped his semi onto a cement barrier wall and trapped him inside. Troopers say King was pinned in the wreckage for nearly three hours and died at the scene of massive injuries.

I-44 is open again in Tulsa

Traffic is flowing again along Interstate-44 in Tulsa. The roadway was shut down at Peoria this morning following an accident involving two tractor trailer rigs.

The Tulsa Fire Department’s Hazardous Materials unit had to respond to the scene to aid in the clean-up.  The roadway was closed for almost three hours.

The wreck happened in the construction zone. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says no one was injured in the ordeal.

Pedestrian dies after running across highway near Mannford

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a person was killed when he or she attempted to run across Oklahoma Highway 51 in Tulsa County early Friday morning.

Authorities say the victim — who hasn't been identified — tried to run across the four-lane highway at about 5:40 a.m. Friday. The pedestrian was hit by a car driven by a 26-year-old woman from Mannford.

Authorities say the driver was unable to avoid the pedestrian.

The highway patrol says the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering injuries to the head, chest, arms and legs.
