Fond Du Lac, Wis. – Okla. plant to lose jobs if concessions pass
FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) A Mercury Marine spokesman says some jobs at its Stillwater, Okla., plant will be eliminated if the labor union at its Fond du Lac plant approves a package of wage and benefit concessions.
Steve Fleming said Wednesday that some work from Oklahoma, but not all of it, will be shifted to Fond du Lac if union members voting Thursday and Friday approve the concessions. He had no other details.
Tulsa, OK – Expert: Swine flu remains mild in Oklahoma
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The director of one of Oklahoma's largest local health departments says swine flu is the state's most immediate health concern.
Tulsa City-County Health Department director Gary Cox said Tuesday most cases of the virus, also known as H1N1, have been mild in Oklahoma. But Cox also says health authorities are monitoring the virus carefully, especially with the start of the school year.
Tulsa, Ok – AAA today projected the number of Americans traveling this Labor Day weekend will be substantially lower than last year's travel volume. Approximately 39.1 million travelers are expected to take a trip of 50 or more miles from home this year, a decrease of 13.3 percent from the 2008 holiday period when Labor Day travel was the strongest of the decade.
Tulsa, OK – The sentence is 107 years in prison for Kimberly Graham. She is the Tulsa woman convicted of running into a group of motorcycle riders outside a Tulsa bar. Five people were killed and Graham fled the scene.
Judge Tom Thornbrugh handed down the sentences today. The sentences will run consecutively.
Oklahoma City, OK – Services held for slain pastor
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Nearly 500 people packed an Oklahoma City church to remember a pastor who was slain inside her small church in Anadarko as she prepared for a Sunday service.
Carol Daniels was found dead Aug. 23 after people coming for services notified police that the door to the church was locked. Police found her body inside. Authorities said she died of multiple sharp force injuries. No arrests have been made.
