OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Two state lawmakers from Tulsa are forming a bipartisan caucus to promote the interests of Oklahoma's second largest city.
Rep. Eric Proctor and Sen. Gary Stanislawski say the new Tulsa Caucus is open to all Tulsa-area legislators and elected officials. It will meet before the end of the year to review legislative priorities.
Oklahoma City, OK – OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Fire investigators in Oklahoma City are trying to determine the cause of an early morning blaze that killed three people at an apartment complex. Deputy Fire Chief Cecil Clay says two of the victims were found on the second floor of the two-story complex and the third was found at the bottom of a stairwell while six other people managed to escape
The Justice Department has given the city of Tulsa the green light. The city may use federal stimulus funds to re-hire 18 of the 21 dismissed police officers. The officers were given a seven day notice and were still on the force. The city originally sought the grant to hire 18-new officers.
Mayor Taylor says the administration will look for additional ways to save money.
Tulsa, OK – The Oklahoma Department of Transportation okays the second phase of the I-44 widening project in Tulsa. The $65-million contract is part of the two year project to widen the roadway between Yale Avenue and the Arkansas River. O-Dot's Kenna Mitchell tells KWGS News the work should begin after the first on the year.
Owasso, OK – A deer hunting accident takes the life of the Owasso Community Development director.
37-year-old Eric Wiles was shot in the back while hunting on his father-in-law's farm west of Muskogee. The accident happened over the weekend. The Muskogee County Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident.
SPERRY, Okla. (AP) A former employee of Sperry Public Schools has sued the district alleging she was forced to serve playground duty in the sun although she has skin cancer.
Keli Morgan, a former Cherokee Nation family advocate for Sperry Elementary School, filed the complaint Friday in U.S. District Court in Tulsa. It alleges the district failed to accommodate her under the Americans With Disabilities Act.
