Norman, OK – Panetta: US efforts putting al-Qaida on the run
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) CIA Director Leon Panetta says America's counterterrorism operations are putting senior al-Qaida leaders under tremendous pressure.
Panetta made the comments Monday during a foreign policy conference at the University of Oklahoma. Panetta says al-Qaida is an adaptive, resilient group of terrorists whose top goal is to attack the United States.
Tulsa, OK – Sales tax figures have now been down for 12-months in a row. Figures released yesterday show sales tax collections were off nearly two million dollars from the same period last year.
The City's Michelle Allen tells KWGS News that the finance department is reviewing the figures, including why there was a drastic drop in the Tulsa Use Tax. Allen says it is doubtful the new figures will mean additional lay-offs at city hall, but that will not be known for sure until the finance department finishes its review.

Tulsa, OK – AVANT, Okla. (AP) School officials in Avant are considering a voluntary annexation with either the Barnsdall or Skiatook districts. Avant Superintendent Richard Harris says falling enrollment and declining state funding because of the fewer students has prompted the study.
