Seminole, OK – College administrator charged in cyclist's death
SEMINOLE, Okla. (AP) Prosecutors have charged a Seminole State College administrator with negligent homicide in connection with an accident that killed a bicyclist near Seminole last month.
Prosecutors charged 56-year-old Bradley Meredith Walck of Shawnee in the death of 50-year-old Ardie Lewis. Walck, who is the vice president for student affairs at Seminole State College, faces up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted of the misdemeanor charge.
Tulsa, OK – TULSA, Okla. (AP) Twelve poultry companies being sued by Oklahoma for polluting the Illinois River watershed are asking a judge to throw out a statement made by a member of their own legal team on how poultry litter is used.
In their filling, in Tulsa federal court, the companies cited a statement made by defense attorney Patrick Ryan at a preliminary hearing in 2008 that there's no question "that there has been an over-application of litter on some or many farms. That's not an issue in our book."
Norman, OK – Carter praises Clinton for trip to North Korea
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) Former President Jimmy Carter has praised the work of another ex-president, Bill Clinton, in securing the freedom of two U.S. journalists held by North Korea.
Carter said Friday that during the early stages of planning for the trip, he was approached as a possible emissary to the North Koreans, but it eventually was decided that Clinton would fill that role.
