Hissom to be Razed

Sand Springs, OK – SAND SPRINGS, Okla. (AP) After being closed for more than two decades, the former Hissom Memorial Center in Sand Springs should soon be demolished. Officials say demolition work on the facility that once housed people with developmental disabilities will begin this summer and should last about three months. The work will cost about $3 million. The 150-acre site contains about 40 buildings that will be razed

Two Dead in Bristow Plane Crash

Bristow, OK – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirms two people died in a plane crash at Bristow Sunday afternoon.

The OHP says the single engine plane crashed at the Bristow Airport about 2:30 Sunday afternoon. Two people on board the plane were killed.

The FAA will investigate the cause of the accident.

Fatal Amtrak Crash in Oklahoma

Oklahoma City, OK – Woman dies as car, passenger train collide in OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Authorities say a woman is dead after the car she was riding in was struck by an Amtrak passenger train as the car attempted to cross tracks in southeast Oklahoma City.

Officers said the woman, not yet named by police, died at the scene of the crash about 9:25 p.m. Friday. Police Lt. Daniel Stewart said the driver was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Fatal Tulsa Police Shooting

Tulsa,OKJ – Officer kills suspect fighting partner for gun

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Police say a domestic-violence suspect is dead after he grabbed the gun of an officer whose partner then shot the suspect in a northside Tulsa home.

Authorities say the shooting occurred about 9:20 p.m. Friday after two officers responded to a call of a domestic disturbance.

Charges Filed

Broken Arrow, OK – Woman charged with second-degree murder for wreck

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (AP) Wagoner County prosecutors have charged a Claremore woman with second-degree murder in connection with a vehicle crash that led to a Broken Arrow man's death.

Dena Harl also was charged Wednesday with possession of a controlled substance for allegedly having the anti-anxiety medication, Alprazolam.

Tulsa, OK – Magnitude 4.4 quake hits Lincoln County, Okla.

SPARKS, Okla. (AP) The U.S. Geological Survey says a magnitude 4.4 earthquake hit Lincoln County, but no injuries and little property damage were reported.

The agency said the earthquake hit about three miles east of Sparks about 4:22 p.m. Saturday. Sparks is between Chandler and Meeker.

A Lincoln County 911 dispatcher said no injuries and only minor property damage were reported.

Oklahoma House: No Sale

Oklahoma City, OK – Bill to ban women selling eggs passes state House

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Oklahoma House has passed a bill that would ban women from selling their eggs.

The bill passed the House by an 85-8 vote and now heads to the Senate. Its author, Rep. Rebecca Hamilton, D-Oklahoma City, says the measure is necessary because women are being injured by the procedure used to obtain the eggs.

She says low-income women and college students are particularly vulnerable to enticements to undergo the procedure.
