Tulsa, OK – One person is dead as Tulsa County Deputies attempt to serve a warrant. The incident happened Friday morning in the 1800 North Kingston Place. Deputies say they were serving a high risk warrant when the suspect grabbed a gun and pointed at the officers. The officers fired, striking the man. He was dead at the scene.
While searching the building, officers found what appeared to be a pipe bomb. The Tulsa Police Bomb Squad was called to the scene and determined the device was not explosive.

Oklahoma City, OK – OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The head of the Oklahoma Health Care Authority says the new federal health care law would mean 250,000 more Oklahomans would have insurance in 2014.

Mike Fogerty said Thursday that the average cost of the program would be about $63 million a year until 2020. Fogerty says the increase in the number of Oklahomans with health insurance would cut the $1 billion cost of nonpaying patients in half.

Tulsa, OK –
On the field, the Inaugural Game at ONEOK Field produced a disappointing 7-0 loss for the Tulsa Drillers, but off the field, the new park was a resounding success. More than 8,600 fans flocked to downtown Tulsa, producing a major league type setting for the first game in the Drillers new home.

The attendance total did not include the numerous fans that watched the game from the nearby rooftops of surrounding buildings.

Jones, OK – Magnitude 3.2 earthquake recorded near Jones

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The U.S. Geological Survey has recorded another earthquake in central Oklahoma.

A 3.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 7:42 a.m. Thursday about two miles southwest of Jones about 10 miles northeast of Oklahoma City. No injuries are reported.

Tulsa, OK – HSBC closing Tulsa operation

TULSA, Okla. (AP) HSBC Finance Corp. says it will close its Tulsa operation by the end of September, eliminating 465 jobs.

Rob Sherman, HSBC-North America vice president for public affairs, said in an e-mailed statement Wednesday that the decision to close HSBC Card Services was made after considering a range of factors, including efforts to balance operating costs and staffing needs across the company network.

Oklahoma City, OK – OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The unemployment rate in Sequoyah County in southeast Oklahoma reached 12 percent in February, the highest among the state's 77 counties.

The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission on Wednesday released a county-by-county breakdown of the state's unemployment data. The report shows Latimer County at 11.6 percent and McCurtain County at 11.5 percent had the highest rates in the state. All three counties are in southeast Oklahoma.

Tulsa, OK – House panel approves changes to workers' comp

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A bill to overhaul the state's workers' compensation system has cleared a House committee.

The Senate bill approved Wednesday by the House Economic Development and Financial Services Committee would reduce the number of judges on the Workers' Compensation Court and limit them to one term. It also requires Senate confirmation for new judges.
