Ann Romney To Attend Fund Raiser in OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The wife of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and former First Lady Laura Bush are scheduled to attend a private fundraising reception in Oklahoma City.

The Oklahoman reports that Ann Romney and Bush are to be featured at Monday's event at the home of Judy and Tom Love. A private reception is scheduled for 5 p.m. and a general reception is set for 6 p.m.

The cost will range from $1,000 to $25,000 per person.

Tulsa Black Senator Criticizes Oklahoma Democratic Party

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A state senator says the Oklahoma Democratic Party has used blacks as workhorses for the party, but officials haven't reciprocated in promoting blacks for leadership positions.

Sen. Judy Eason McIntyre spoke during a breakfast meeting with Oklahoma Democrats at the delegation's hotel on the final day of the national convention in North Carolina.

Good evening from Charlotte. Tonight during the last day of the Democratic National Convention, President Obama will accept his party's nomination.

It will be a star-studded evening with performances from James Taylor and the Foo Fighters and appearences from stars like Eva Longoria and Scarlett Johansson.

2nd District GOP Candidate Mullin got $370K in Stimulus

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A Republican congressional candidate who has railed against federal spending has been awarded around $370,000 in federal stimulus money distributed through a pair of Oklahoma Indian tribes.

A review of stimulus spending by The Associated Press shows companies owned by Markwayne Mullin received the money under contracts with the Cherokee and Muscogee (Creek) nations.

The payments were for plumbing at tribal housing projects and funded through the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.
