Fort Smith, AR –

FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) A federal drug fugitive arrested in Sequoyah County by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol is to be transported to West Virginia to face charges.

The Southwest Times Record reports that 42-year-old David Lee Kidd led Arkansas and Oklahoma police on a high-speed chase on Wednesday before he could be arrested.

The Orlando Sentinel reports Kidd and another man were arrested in March when authorities found 7,000 pills and about $14,000 cash in their rental car. Kidd is accused of transporting illegal narcotics from Florida to Ohio and West Virginia.

The Marshals Service says a judge on Friday ordered Kidd to be taken to the Northern District of West Virginia. He is to be moved within 10 days.
