KWGS News File photo

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Today is the deadline for voters to register to participate in the Oklahoma primary election on June 26.

A valid registration application must be received by the State Election Board, a county election board, a motor license agency or a designated voter registration agency by June 1st. If being mailed, applications must be postmarked by June 1st.

Voters must be U.S citizens and Oklahoma residents and be at least 18 years old on the date of the election. It is a felony to submit false information on a voter registration application.

If convicted, a person could receive a prison term of up to five years, a fine or both.

Oklahoma is a closed primary state and only registered voters of a political party may vote to select their party's nominees.
