Tulsa, OK – Okla officer convicted, another acquitted in case

TULSA, Okla. (AP) A federal jury has convicted one Tulsa police officer accused of numerous civil rights violations and acquitted another charged with witness tampering.

The panel on Wednesday found Officer Jeff Henderson guilty of six counts of perjury and two counts of violating the civil rights of a citizen. Officer Bill Yelton, who was accused of witness tampering, was found not guilty on all eight counts.

Henderson also had faced charges of distributing drugs and witness tampering. Both had denied wrongdoing during the 14-day trial.

Yelton and Henderson were tried more than two months after a jury convicted ex-Tulsa officer Harold Wells on charges that he engaged in drug trafficking and stole federal money.

Officers Nick DeBruin and Bruce Bonham were found not guilty of similar allegations.
