Webbers Falls, OK –
Ex-Webbers Falls officers accused in swindle exonerated
WEBBERS FALLS, Okla. (AP) Muskogee County District Attorney Larry Moore says two former Webbers Falls police officers who were accused of swindling a motorist during a traffic stop won't be charged.
Officials say evidence has emerged that the alleged victim was rightfully ticketed by Joe Garrett and Aaron Torix.
Torix provided copies of the tickets to a district attorney investigator indicating that Deborah Sisco was driving with a suspended license in connection with an unpaid seat belt violation in Muskogee. She also didn't have insurance.
Police Chief Tim Brown had said the men incorrectly served her with an outstanding municipal traffic warrant from Muskogee.
Sisco reported that she was threatened with jail time if she didn't pay a $220 Muskogee municipal warrant for failing to wear a seatbelt, which would have been outside of Webbers Falls jurisdiction.
