Oklahoma City, OK – Would-be Okla. ME hauled body in pickup truck

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Questions are being raised about the doctor offered the job of chief medical examiner in Oklahoma.

The board that oversees the office has learned that Dr. Philip Keen once carried a woman's body for about 100 miles in the back of his pickup truck in Arizona.

The board offered the 67-year-old Keen the $205,000-a-year job in September. Board member Charles Curtis told The Oklahoman the offer is tentative.

Curtis says the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is currently doing a background check on Keen and is aware of the incident.

Keen says it was urgent to have the woman's body examined. The woman's ex-husband is charged with murder in her death.

The search for a medical examiner could be restarted if board members aren't satisfied with Keen's background.
