Tulsa, OK – Company says worker disregarded training
TULSA, Okla. (AP) Lawyers for Cintas Corp., the country's largest uniform supplier, claim in a court document that a worker who died in 2007 at the company's Tulsa plant "consciously disregarded his training."
The filing this week in Tulsa federal court by the Cincinnati-based company states that Eleazar Torres-Gomez received and understood training on how to safely clear laundry jams at the plant.
The company is asking a judge for summary judgment in the case without a trial.
Torres-Gomez died in March 2007 after falling into a 300-degree industrial dryer.
His widow sued Cintas. She claims the company knew that workers who climbed onto conveyors to push clumps of clothes into dryers were risking their lives to do it.
