Tulsa, OK – 2 arrested in Tulsa home invasion shooting death

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Police say two men who invaded a Tulsa couple's home, robbed them and killed the husband had thought they would be robbing a drug dealer, but got the wrong address.

Officers said Monday they had arrested 19-year-old Michael Morris Taylor on a charge stemming from the slaying early Saturday of 38-year-old National Guard soldier Jerry Lee VanEllen. Police said a 17-year-old was arrested Sunday.

Police said VanEllen was shot just after 3:30 a.m. Saturday as he chased two men who had robbed his family. Investigators said Monday the two intruders apparently thought they would be robbing a drug dealer, but got the address wrong.

VanEllen's wife, Annie VanEllen, said the men invaded their home just hours after the family celebrated the first birthday of their younger child, Kyle.
