Tulsa, Oklahoma – On our show today, we present an interesting discussion with the renowned biological anthropologist C. Owen Lovejoy, who is the University Professor of Anthropology at Kent State University, an Adjunct Professor of Anatomy at the Northeast Ohio University College of Medicine, and an Adjunct Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Lovejoy's pioneering work has centered on why humans first began to walk upright as well as other aspects of early human development; he has written (or contributed to) nearly 150 articles on human evolution. Lovejoy was also a descriptor of "Lucy" --- and more recently, he was a principal author in the description of "Ardi," a revolutionary new fossil whose description was chosen by Science magazine as the "Science Breakthrough of the Year" for 2009. Tomorrow night, Tuesday the 21st, Lovejoy will be the first speaker in TU's 2010-11 Presidential Lecture Series, which is sponsored by the Darcy O'Brien Endowed Chair. This address is free to the public; it happens in the Great Hall of the Allen Chapman Activity Center at 7:30pm.
