Tulsa, OK – Since Tulsa's Sheriff has taken back the operation of the county jail, costs have stayed below budget each year. Financial experts claim that would not be the case had the operation continued under a private company. Sheriff Glanz says his style of direct supervision of inmates is a major reason for the turn-around.
When the jail first opened in 1999, Corrections Corporation of America ran the operation. The Sheriff resumed operations in 2005.
