Tulsa Tower May Close Overnights

KWGS News

Federal sequestration could have an impact soon on the Tulsa International Airport control tower. The Airport’s Deputy Director Alexis Higgins says they have received notification that the tower may be closed from midnight to 5AM. Higgins stresses such a plan is only under consideration at this time.

Higgins says if that should come to pass it would have virtually no impact on commercial aviation. The last flights of the day arrive in Tulsa before midnight and there are no departures until after 6AM.

Federal sequestration has closed some control towers at regional airports because of the lack of funding to pay for air traffic controllers.
