Tulsa, OK – The Tulsa Public Schools are going straight to the top seeking a grant of more than $50-million. The TPS is working with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The $55-million grant would establish a performance based pay system for teachers. The initiative would raise salaries, offer incentives to keep high quality teachers and dismiss those found to be ineffective. TPS is also looking for $15-million in donations from local philanthropists.

The Gates Foundation will notify the school system this month about the grant.
