Oklahoma City, OK – Oklahoma given more than $10 million in storm aid
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Federal Emergency Management Agency officials say state and federal assistance for individuals and communities affected by tornadoes and other severe weather in May has topped $10 million.
FEMA said Monday more than $9.3 million of the aid has gone for grants and low-interest loans to homeowners, renters and business in counties included under a May 24 disaster declaration. Those counties are Carter, Cleveland, Creek, Garvin, McIntosh, Okfuskee, Oklahoma, Pottawatomie and Seminole.
Officials say $1.1 million has been obligated under FEMA's Public Assistance (PA) Grant Program to help the state and its agencies, local and tribal governments and certain nonprofit organizations recover their eligible disaster-related costs.
Under the PA program, FEMA pays 75 percent of eligible costs, and the state and the applicants split the final 25 percent.
