Seminole, OK – College administrator charged in cyclist's death

SEMINOLE, Okla. (AP) Prosecutors have charged a Seminole State College administrator with negligent homicide in connection with an accident that killed a bicyclist near Seminole last month.

Prosecutors charged 56-year-old Bradley Meredith Walck of Shawnee in the death of 50-year-old Ardie Lewis. Walck, who is the vice president for student affairs at Seminole State College, faces up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted of the misdemeanor charge.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Lewis was struck as he rode his bicycle on the shoulder of State Highway 3. Troopers said Walck was distracted inside his pickup when he drifted onto the shoulder and struck Lewis.

Lewis died at Seminole Hospital after the July 28 collision.
