Kingston, OK – Officials: Texas man, 73, drowns in Lake Texoma

KINGSTON, Okla. (AP) A Texas man is dead after leaving his boat in Lake Texoma and drowning.

The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety says 73-year-old James Thompson of Frisco died Friday shortly after noon.

The agency says Thompson's boat was anchored about 50 feet from land at Beach View. Thompson got out of the boat and tried to swim for shore.

Searchers recovered Thompson's body around 4 p.m.
