Test Results Delay

By Associated Press

Tulsa, OK – TULSA, Okla. (AP) Oklahoma school districts won't be getting the results of key tests on student exams until late August.

Most schools were expecting test results this week.

Officials say the delay in getting results for the No Child Left Behind testing is because the state raised proficiency standards on the exams.

State education officials also say the higher standards may result in fewer students scoring satisfactory or better on the Oklahoma Core Curriculum Tests. The tests are given to students in grades three through eight.

State Department of Education spokeswoman Wendy Pratt says the higher standards bring state tests more in line with the National Assessment of Educational Progress test results. Those results are nationwide tests conducted on a sample of students in each state.
