Teen Pleads Guilty to Coweta Murder for Hire Plot
WAGONER, Okla. (AP) — An Oklahoma City teenager has pleaded guilty to killing a man in Wagoner County in what prosecutors say was a murder-for-hire scheme.
Nineteen-year-old Michael Richardson was sentenced to 28 years in prison after pleading guilty Monday to a second-degree murder charge in Wagoner County District Court in Wagoner.
Richardson was charged in the February 2011 death of 53-year-old Arthur Burney — the father of Richardson's girlfriend — near Burney's home in Coweta.
Prosecutors say Burney's wife — Patricia Burney — offered Richardson $6,000 to kill her husband.
Patricia Richardson was convicted in April and sentenced to life in prison without parole. She is appealing her conviction.
