Teen Charged in Jenks Murder on Probation at Time
By AP
TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Records show that a 14-year-old charged with murder was on court-supervised probation when he was arrested in connection with the slaying of a Nevada woman who was visiting her parents in Oklahoma.
A prosecutor filed a first-degree murder charge and a burglary charge against the teen Thursday in the December shooting death of 47-year-old Mary Escue of Reno, Nevada.
The Tulsa World reports Saturday that juvenile records show the teen was placed on probation in May after he was found delinquent on a Creek County charge of cruelty to animals.
He and another teen were accused of stabbing a pig in a livestock show barn in 2011.
Authorities say the teen shot Escue, whose body was found last month at her parents' home in Jenks.
