Joplin, MO – Dillon Stores announces it will rebuild in Joplin

JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) Dillon Stores say they will rebuild in Joplin after the company's store was destroyed by a tornado.

Joe Grieshaber, president of the Wichita, Kan.-based company, says details of the rebuilding project are not final. He also praised employees, saying they ensured that all 35 people in the store at the time escaped with only minor injuries.

The Wichita Eagle reports that Dillon Stores donated $250,000 to the Ozark Food Harvest and made a matching contribution to the Red Cross.

Other large employers in Joplin, including Home Depot, St. John's Hospital and Wal-Mart also say they will rebuild.

Joplin officials estimated that 300 businesses were lost and at least 4,000 employees affected by the tornado, although that number could rise.
