Wagoner, OK – 8th-grade wrestler in Wagoner dies after practice
WAGONER, Okla. (AP) School officials in Wagoner say an eighth-grade wrestler has died after collapsing after a practice session.
Tulsa television station KJRH reports that Ty'Darius Penney was taken by an ambulance Wednesday to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
School officials say that the practice was over and that the youth collapsed during a cool-down session.
The school called off Thursday's end-of-semester testing and had counselors on hand for students.
The school also canceled a Thursday night wrestling match and is may pull out of a tournament set for this weekend.
