A winter storm packing a messy mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow knocked out power for tens of thousands of customers across Arkansas and is being blamed on at least one road death in Oklahoma.
Forecasters posted blizzard warnings for northeastern Arkansas, expecting up to 10 inches of snow and 40 mph wind gusts in a band from near Little Rock to the Missouri Bootheel. A blizzard warning for southwestern Oklahoma was dropped — but was replaced by a wind-chill advisory that warned of readings of minus-11.
A 21-vehicle accident near downtown Oklahoma City slowed traffic on Interstates 35 and 40. A 28-year-old woman died in a crash on U.S. 412 near Fairview.
Power outages mounted rapidly in Arkansas as at least 170,000 customers lost electricity.

Meanwhile, the winter storm missed the Tulsa area, hitting Oklahoma hardest in the southeastern region.
Icing on bridges may still be possible in the Tulsa area, according to the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety.
Road conditions in some of the harder hit areas are still dangerous, so use caution if you're planning to travel south of Tulsa today. Temperatures in many areas are not expected to rise above freezing.
