Tulsa, OK – Oklahoma gets $4 million in federal funds

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood says Oklahoma is getting about $4 million in federal economic stimulus money to pay for transit projects.

LaHood made the announcement Friday on the deadline for the Federal Transit Administration to award all of the stimulus money alloted for transit projects.

The Metropolitan Tulsa Transit Authority will get $4 million to purchase 12 buses, rehabilitate an administrative and maintenance facility and fund a paratransit service. The city of Lawton will get $17,501 to buy a van.

The grants are among 881 projects totaling $7.5 billion that the Federal Transit Administration has awarded since President Obama signed the stimulus bill in February 2009.
