Oklahoma City, OK – House OKs workers' comp, performance pay bills

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Oklahoma House has approved two key planks of the GOP-controlled Legislature's agenda performance pay for teachers and an overhaul of the state's workers' compensation system.

Both measures were approved by the House on Wednesday and now head to conference committees where the final language will be negotiated.

The performance-pay bill applies to teachers and administrators, and allows districts to develop plans that must be approved by the state Department of Education.

It says incentives should be based upon student and school performance growth, leadership abilities, organizational and classroom management skills.

Among other things, the workers' comp bill decreases the number of Workers' Compensation Court judges and limits them to one, eight-year term.
