McAlester, OK – Man convicted of killing campers put to death
McALESTER, Okla. (AP) A man convicted of the 1995 shooting deaths of two campers in southern Oklahoma has been put to death.
Michael P. DeLozier was pronounced dead at 6:10 p.m. Thursday at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester.
The 32-year-old DeLozier was executed for the Sept. 24, 1995, deaths of Orville Lewis Bullard and Paul Steven Morgan. Court documents say DeLozier and two others ambushed Morgan and Bullard at their campsite along the Glover River, shot them and stole their vehicle and equipment.
Attorneys for DeLozier had asked the appeals court for a stay of execution and a new evidentiary hearing, but the state Court of Criminal Appeals denied the request on Thursday.
