Oklahoma City, OK – Denate Dems delay $23M tax credit suspension
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Senate Democrats have delayed the suspension of two tax credit programs that would have saved the state about $23 million.
In a straight party-line vote, minority Democrats in the Senate on Wednesday opposed the suspension of two tax credit programs. Although the bill passed 26-22, the emergency clause on the measure did not get the two-thirds vote needed for passage, delaying the effective date of the bill for three months.
Republican Senate President Pro Tem Glenn Coffee of Oklahoma City says the delay will reduce the amount of available revenue for programs like education, transportation and health care.
Senate Democratic leader Charles Laster of Shawnee said Democrats won't support any bills to generate revenue until they've seen a final budget deal.
