TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Records show that a dispute between federal and state agencies led to state drug agents being evicted from the Oklahoma office they shared with federal agents for a decade.
The Tulsa World reported Sunday that a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agent told the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics director that the state agents had to leave the McAlester building they shared.
The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics is now renting space in another McAlester office.
The World obtained the letter and other documents through a public records request. A DEA spokeswoman says the federal agent's letter speaks for itself.
Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics director Darrell Weaver says there's been an attempt by DEA agents in Oklahoma to create a drug task force that would have state agents answering to DEA supervisors.
