Skiatook School Update

By Associated Press

Tulsa, OK – Skiatook board accepts president's resignation

SKIATOOK, Okla. (AP) In the wake of a critical grand jury report, Skiatook's school board has reorganized after accepting the resignation of its president.

Kenneth Cooper, who had been on the board for seven years, announced his resignation earlier this month after a grand jury indicted the school's former superintendent for embezzlement and bribery and said Cooper should be removed from office.

Cooper said then he hoped his resignation will help the community heal. He has not been charged.

On Monday, Tim Allen became the board's new president. Also during its meeting, the board spent 1 1/2 hours in executive session, during which the employment of interim superintendent Steve Williams was discussed. The board took no action on Williams and did not publicly discuss his status.
