Several Apply for Judgeship

By AP

Tulsa, OK – 11 apply for vacant Oklahoma judge position

(Information in the following story is from: Tulsa World, http://www.tulsaworld.com)

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Seven judges, a former judge and a prosecutor are among the 11 people seeking a district judge post that's being vacated.

All have applied for the judgeship once held by Tom Thornbrugh, whom Gov. Mary Fallin appointed to the Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals in September. The application period has ended.

The Tulsa World reports that six Tulsa County special judges; Pawnee County Associate District Judge Matthew Henry; former Tulsa County Associate District Judge Deidre Dexter and Tulsa County assistant district attorney Doug Drummond applied for the post.

Federal court staff attorney M. Denise Graham and Tulsa attorney Jon Patton also applied for the position.

Once the Oklahoma Judicial Nominating Commission screens the applicants and picks the finalists, Fallin will select the new judge.
