Tulsa, OK – Okla. man sentenced in bribery scandal
TULSA, Okla. (AP) A federal judge has sentenced a Bartlesville man to one year and a day in prison for bribing an ex-Tulsa Public Works Department employee.
U.S. District Judge Terence Kern ordered Kenneth Shoemaker on Monday to be under court supervision for three years after his release. The 47-year-old must report to prison by June 16.
A federal grand jury indicted Shoemaker in January 2009, and he pleaded guilty to a bribery charge Sept. 3. He admitted that on July 22, 2008, while serving as president of FBS Inc., he paid a $7,500 bribe to Albert Martinez to steer a $450,756 public works contract to FBS Inc.
The total bribe payment was to be $25,000.
Shoemaker's attorney, Dan Webber, says his client is ready to move on.
