Tulsa, OK – Oklahoma woman given 24 years for bikers' deaths
TULSA, Okla. (AP) A Sand Springs woman has been sentenced to 24 years in prison for the deaths of two bicyclists.
Tausha Borland was sentenced Thursday in Tulsa County District Court after pleading guilty in September to two counts of first-degree manslaughter. Defense attorney Allen Smallwood told the Tulsa World that the 39-year-old Borland will be about 60 before she's eligible for parole.
Authorities say Borland was under the influence of alcohol when her sport utility vehicle hit Christa Voss of Owasso and Matt Edmonds of Tulsa from behind. Her blood alcohol concentration was measured at 0.09 after the crash. The legal limit is 0.08.
Voss and Edmonds were biking on the shoulder of Oklahoma 51 west of Sand Springs when they were killed in the June 2009 collision.
