Beggs, OK – Meningitis leads Oklahoma school to close early
BEGGS, Okla. (AP) Classes are canceled for the remainder of the week at Beggs Public Schools in Okmulgee County after a student was diagnosed with viral meningitis.
A statement placed on the district's website Wednesday says middle school student does not have the more serious bacterial meningitis and that canceling classes is a precaution.
The statement says classes are off for Thursday and Friday effectively shutting down the school for the remainder of the year. There will be no classes for the next two weeks because of the holiday break.
