SAND SPRINGS, Okla. (AP) — Authorities say a 27-year-old Sand Springs teacher has been arrested on a rape complaint involving a 17-year-old student.

Police say they arrested the female teacher Saturday morning at a hotel in Tulsa.

The woman is an employee at Charles Page High School in Sand Springs. The woman has not been formally charged, and police released few details because the student is a minor.

Under Oklahoma law, sexual intercourse can be considered rape if the victim is between 16 and 18 years old and the contact occurs with someone older than 18 who works at the same school system that the victim attends.
