Tulsa, OK – Tulsa Police Chief Ron Palmer submitted his resignation after it was requested late morning by Mayor Bartlett. Palmer says he had offered his resignation at the beginning of the Bartlett Administration, but was told at that time it was not desired. Today, Mayor Bartlett and Chief of Staff Terry Simonson requested the resignation.

Palmer first learned his resignation was requested from the media. KWGS talked with Palmer immediately after the story was posted in the Tulsa World's Online edition. At that time, he denied he had resigned. A few minutes later, Bartlett walked into his office with the request.

He will stay on the city payroll until the end of the month, but will clear out his office by Monday morning.
