Oklahoma City, OK – Treasurer: Okla. economy improving, revenue up
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma Treasurer Ken Miller says an increase in revenue collected by his office during March is more evidence that Oklahoma's economy is improving.
Miller said Monday that receipts to the state treasury last month totaled about $923 million, an increase of $51.5 million, or 5.9 percent, over March of last year.
During the past year, gross collections were almost $9.9 billion. That's an increase of $492 million, or 5.2 percent, over the previous 12 months.
Miller says monthly receipts show all major tax categories are growing compared to the prior year, with gross production taxes on oil and natural gas sharply higher.
Miller says increasing collections confirms Oklahoma's economy is expanding at a relatively good pace. He says that should lead to continued job growth in the state.
