Oklahoma City, OK – USS Oklahoma survivors reunite in Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Six people who survived aboard the USS Oklahoma when it was sunk in the attack by Japan on Pearl Harbor have gathered for a reunion in Oklahoma City.
The attack claimed 429 sailors and Marines aboard the ship on December 7th, 1941 -- a date President Franklin D. Roosevelt said would "live in infamy".
Ed Vezey of Moore was among those who survived and made it to the latest reunion. The Oklahoman reported Sunday that Oklahoma City remains important to the survivors and their descendants because the fund drive for a memorial to the ship began in the city.
The group on Friday saw a section of the USS Oklahoma, which is on display at Muskogee's War Memorial Park. The reunion concluded with a Saturday night banquet.
The memorial to the ship at Pearl Harbor was dedicated in 2007.
