Push-ups at Stop Lead to Tulsa Police Lawsuit
TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Two Tulsa police officers are facing a federal civil rights by a man who claims he was forced to do push-ups along a roadside after an officer searched his vehicle.
Court papers show 24-year-old Brian Lumpkin filed suit on Friday against Tulsa police Officers James Bohanon and Kevin Warne.
The suit alleges the officers were conducting drug surveillance on a house when Lumpkin was stopped. The lawsuit alleges Bohanon conducted an illegal search of his vehicle and found no drugs.
The Tulsa World reports the suit claims damages by deprivation of civil rights against both Warne and Bohanon and damages from excessive force by Bohanon.
Bohanon is accused of making Lumpkin do the push-ups while Warne was nearby.
