Public Meeting to Focus on Pearl District

City planners want input from Tulsans on some changes to a plan of development for the Pearl District.

The City wants to implement form-based coding in the area. Form-based code focuses on the look of a building and where it’s placed on a lot, rather than what a building is used for, as with traditional zoning.

Changes the City has made to its plan include where in the district the code would apply and whether it would be optional for property owners, as well as changes to some properties’ classifications under the code.

City Planning Director Dawn Warrick says the public input will help planners get a sense of what Tulsans feel about these changes, and to revise the proposal for a final time before public hearings continue with the Tulsa Metro Area Planning Commission.

The Commission will make the final decision about the area’s form-based code. Its next meeting is August 1.

Tomorrow night’s public input meeting is at 6 p.m. at the Central Center in Centennial Park at 1028 E. 6th St.
