Tulsa, OK – PSO seeks $17.4 million to recover ice storm costs
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Public Service Company of Oklahoma wants the Corporation Commission to let it recover $17.4 million in costs associated with an ice storm that knocked out power to more than 68,000 customers in southwestern Oklahoma.
PSO has reached a tentative agreement with the commission's staff, the Attorney General's Office and consumer groups to recover the costs. The agreement will be outlined before an administrative law judge on Thursday.
If the commission approves, residential electrical rates will increase an average of 78 cents a month for 24 months beginning in the first billing cycle of August.
PSO spokesman Stan Whiteford says the Jan. 28, 2010, storm toppled 116 miles of distribution lines in the region. Whiteford says PSO had to replace 2,100 utility poles as well as 970,000 feet of distribution lines.
