Possible Plane Crash
By Associated Press
Tecumseh, OK – Okla. authorities looking for possible plane crash
TECUMSEH, Okla. (AP) Authorities are looking for a small airplane that may have crashed in Pottawatomie County.
Tecumseh Emergency Manager Melvin Potter said 36 square miles had been searched but crews hadn't found any wreckage Tuesday morning.
Potter says a caller reported seeing "an elongated object" with white flashing lights that was on fire in the front heading over the horizon about 9:45 p.m. Monday. Potter says no one reported hearing or seeing a crash or explosion, however.
Potter says sheriff's deputies and tribal police were looking on the ground, and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Civil Air Patrol were helping search by air.
He says there have been no missing persons reports, and a check of local airports found no flight plans for the area had been filed.
