Tulsa, OK – Tulsa police officer shoots, kills man after chase

(Information in the following story is from: Tulsa World, http://www.tulsaworld.com)

TULSA, Okla. (AP) A Tulsa police officer is on paid leave after shooting a man who had led the officer on a chase following a traffic stop.

Police say officer Adam Dawson shot 20-year-old Lakeith Roland when Roland pointed a handgun at the officer after getting out of his still moving car. The Tulsa World reports the chase began about 10:15 p.m. Sunday when Dawson attempted to stop the car driven by Roland.

Police say the weapon officers believe Roland pointed at Dawson was found and was identified as formerly belonging to the Detroit Police Department.

A news release from Detroit police says the firearm wasn't stolen but was turned in to the department's firearms inventory in October and became the property of Smith & Wesson Co. as part of a weapons transition.
