Planned Parenthood May Expand Services

By AP

Tulsa, OK – Planned Parenthood could offer abortions in Okla.

(Information in the following story is from: Tulsa World, http://www.tulsaworld.com)

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Planned Parenthood says it's considering the possibility of offering abortion services at clinics in Tulsa and Broken Arrow.

The announcement comes about two weeks after the Planned Parenthood affiliate that covers Iowa and Nebraska revealed plans to merge with one that runs health clinics in Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma.

Jill June, the president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, tells the Tulsa World the organization is conducting a six-month review of services it plans to offer at its Oklahoma and Arkansas clinics. June says abortions are among the services Planned Parenthood is considering adding.

Records show there are now three licensed abortion facilities in Oklahoma.

Oklahomans for Life state chairman Tony Lauinger says the organization "would be deeply disappointed" to see any organization offer abortions.
