Ozone Alert

By Associated Press

Tulsa, OK – Ozone Alert called for Thursday in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. (AP) The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Ozone Alert for Thursday in the Tulsa area.

The alert will be the city's first for the month and 10th of the year.

An alert means weather conditions are favorable Thursday for the buildup of ozone near the ground to an unhealthy level.

The DEQ advises that people with lung or heart disease should take extra care during an alert. Symptoms include chest pain, coughing, sneezing and nausea, among others.

The agency also says residents can help keep ozone levels from becoming unhealthy by carpooling or putting off mowing the lawn.
