Tulsa, OK – TULSA, Okla. (AP) A late December snowstorm across Oklahoma resulted in nearly $706,000 in overtime pay to state Department of Transportation workers in January.
The pay reported by the Office of State Finance led all state agencies in overtime although the Department of Corrections had more overtime hours worked.
The blizzard began just before Christmas and dropped 13.5 inches of snow on Oklahoma city and more than 7 inches in Tulsa. During the next several days including Christmas Day ODOT crews salted, sanded, cleared and re-cleared the 12,000 miles of state-maintained highways and bridges.
ODOT workers put in a total of 29,712 hours of overtime. Corrections workers put in 30,612 hours of overtime for nearly $663,000 in total pay.
