Oologah Update

By Associated Press

Oologah, OK – OOLOGAH, Okla. (AP) Two students at an elementary school in the Oologah-Talala School District have died from a rare blood disease.

Andrew Gregory Thomas, 7, and Shuache Moua, 8, died Thursday after contracting an infection called meningococcemia, also known as meningitis.

The two were among six children from Oologah-Talala schools who fell ill with the disease last week.

The grandfather of 6-year-old Jeremiah Mitchell, also taken ill at Oologah-Talala's Lower Elementary School, said the youngster was in critical condition Saturday. Rockie Mitchell said doctors gave his grandson a 25 percent chance of surviving his illness.
